Reporting from Kanpur

Kanpur, India March 14th, 2010
Travel was smooth and pleasant as Pandit Dixit predicted.
I arrived exhausted in 2008. This time I arrived exhausted again, but had reserved a hotel room for two nights.
The ‘normal’ pattern of travel from the USA is to fly into Indira Gandhi Airport in Delhi and arrive just before midnight.
Then you take a taxi to the hotel, sleep for 4 hours and get on the Shatabdi Express, the fast train to Kanpur. That’s too much traveling for me all at once.

This time, I slept more and arrived in Kanpur much more rested.

The Shatabdi Express arrives just before noon. Mr. Gautam was waiting for me with the driver. He and Mr. Ajai are Panditji’s secretaries. Very pleasant and insightful men. We hopped into the car and began to battle the Kanpur Traffic. It takes about a half hour to drive to Vikas Nagar where the offices of the Vedic Life Foundation are located.

It is great to see Pandit Dixit again. We immediately started talking about the Navaratra, the Nine Nights of Mother Divine. He was saying that this time of year is so auspicious that no one even asks their jyotishis for a muhurta for starting things during Navaratra. A muhurta is an auspicious time to begin an action. People commission jyotishi’s to find a muhurta for marriages, starting trips, beginning building projects, signing papers to start a new company, new product launches. Any day, any time during the Vasantik Navaratra is auspicious. Panditji said with a chuckle that it would be an afront to the energy to even ask for a muhurta now. Mother Divine is here, what time to begin could be better? We have her full support!

If you have a new project that you want to get started, begin anytime during Vasantik Navaratra, March 16th to March 24th, 2010. Begin anytime during any of these Nine Days! and success is more certain.

To enhance these already excellent chances of success, do a yagya now. Please visit the Vasantik Navaratra page to see which yagyas are especially recommended now.

We will go out to the Ashram later this afternoon to see how preparations are proceeding. A solar lighting system for the pathways is installed! I’ll take some pictures and post them as soon as I can.

I plan to update this blog just about every day that I’m here.

I’m posting this after coming back from the Ashram. It has really changed a lot in the last year and a half. Panditji said it had been a long 10 years realizing this dream. I’ll post pictures of him performing a birthday puja in the Blue Ridge Mountains tomorrow. The Scott’s inspired him to build the Ashram and Shiva Temple.
